APCA WARNS

Addressing a meeting on the DCO Office premises in Multan on Tuesday, APCA secretary general Khalid Javed Sanghera said that thousands of Apca members would participate in the protest. He also warned of paralysing the country for not entertaining their demands. He demanded the government revise salary structures and upgrade posts of employees of BPS-1 to BPS-15, besides increasing salaries in proportion to inflation. He said that the Apca central committee had decided resuming countrywide agitation and protest movement to press their demands. The countrywide agitation would include protest meetings, taking out rallies and blocking roads, he added. He said that the government had ignored employees in the budget. He criticised the government for not taking interest in resolving their problems.

The APCA office-bearers said that the government used to present mini-budgets whole year, adding that prices of electricity and gas were increased frequently while heavy taxes were also being imposed on the poor people. They asked the government to withdraw hike in electricity and gas tariffs. Dozens of the federal and provincial department employees participated in the meeting and shouted slogans against the government.
