Core Objective of Seminar:

Ø  To create awareness at grass root level regarding preventive measures from dengue virus

Ø  To provide education session to Community groups/ NGOs and students through presentations, awareness lectures and  distribution of informative literature

Social Welfare Department, Community Development project, Gojra in collaboration with the local NGO Anjman Bahbood-e-Mazooran-Samat Gojra, organized a seminar on Eradication of Dengue Mosquito and its Larva, Awareness Campaign.                                                                                        The seminar, held at, Seminar Hall, Govt. Post Graduate Collage for Boys Gojra, dated on February 25, 2012. (11: am to 01:30 Pm) aimed at spreading awareness about dengue fever among members of NGOs and Students.                                                                      

Administrator Tehsil Municipal Administration/Assistant Commissioner Gojra Presided over the seminar.      

       

                                                                            

Session started at 11:10 am with the reciting of the Holy Quran. Participants were delivered keynote lectures and stressed the need for adopting preventive measures in order to eradicate dengue carrier mosquito. Speaker from Health Department Mr. Adnan Shaha presented presentation on the history of the Dengue Mosquito in Pakistan.  He also told the participants the common breeding sites of the mosquito and how to eliminate these sites in effective way.  Professor Muhammad Sohail described the life cycle of the mosquito’s larva. He told the participants when a mosquito carrying dengue virus bites a person; the virus enters the skin to gather with the mosquito’s saliva. It binds to and enters white blood cells, virus production increased in a body and person experience low Blood Pressure.

Guest Speaker, Dr. Rana Anwar ul Haq addressed the participants emphasized on elimination of breeding grounds of mosquito. He told the symptoms of dengue fever. Dengue fever also known as break bone fever, is an infectious tropical disease caused by the dengue virus, symptoms includes fever, headache, muscle and joint pain and characteristics skin rash. Dengue Hemorrhagic fever caused the bleeding, low Blood Pressure, low level of Blood Platelets and blood Plasma leakage, or dengue shock syndrome. He also described that dengue is transmitted by several species of mosquito within the Dengue Aedes.

Chairman District Coordination Council for NGOs, Mr. Abdul Ghuffar described the role of community to get rid of this dreaded virus. He emphasized the local NGOs to be a part of this campaign at the grass root level.

Chief Guest Mr. Ashfaq ul Rehman Khan, Assistant Commissioner Gojra said that different departments, organizations and institutions from public private and NGO sector should join hands together as coordinated efforts are required to achieve the goal of Dengue free Society.

         

He said that Govt. machinery is working round the clock to raise awareness among every segment of the society and fumigating spray to eliminate the mosquito’s larva. He also praised the efforts being made last period by the District Government T.T Singh.

     

Mr. Tayyab Bhatti, DDO Social Welfare also addressed the seminar and thanked Mr. Ashfaq-ul-Rehman,  Dr.Rana Anwar-ul-Haq and  other guests to grace the occasion with their presence.

He also appreciated the General Secrtary of Anjman Bahbood-Mazooran-Samat Gojra for sponsoring the seminar. He said that series of seminars, corner meetings, workshops is scheduled in order to create awareness in various localities of Tehsil Gojra.
